Habitat: They live in wooded places with enough fresh water such as wetlands, lagoons or near streams or rivers.
Food: They are omnivores, their diet consists of plant matter, grass, leaves, amphibians, crustaceans, insects, molluscs and worms.
Habits: They are active during the day and at dusk they climb trees to sleep and create their nests in tree hollows where they can lay up to 15 eggs.
It is interesting that… When they are frightened or feel threatened, they ruffle the feathers on their little crest.
